Equpiment Funding FAQs
Who owns the equipment?
The equipment becomes the property of the Ministry of Health. If and when you no longer require it, the equipment is returned to the Ministry of Health funding service for re-issue.
Do I have to make a contribution towards the equipment?
Because the equipment remains the property of the Ministry of Health, you are not required to pay for it.
Will I be income and asset tested?
There is no income and asset testing for funding for equipment.
Who is responsible for repairing and maintaining the equipment?
The cost of essential repairs and maintenance will be met by the Ministry of Health through the funding administration service, except where warranty provisions apply or where the equipment has been carelessly or inappropriately used.
Can I be reimbursed for equipment I've already purchased?
No, funding for equipment is only available if the application has been submitted by the specialised assessor prior to the equipment being purchased.
Is there a choice in the type of equipment available to me?
As part of the assessment the specialised assessor will discuss with you the type of equipment available to you. There are certain items of equipment that are bulk purchased through a preferred supplier, or you may receive an item of equipment from the re-issue pool.
What happens when I no longer require the equipment?
The equipment is returned to the Ministry of Health funding service for refurbishment and re-issue to another person.
