Update - Enable New Zealand Region
Processing Times
Specialised Assessors will have noticed processing times coming back into line for complex equipment in the past months. We are now processing complex equipment within four weeks with the common list items remaining at a 2 - 3 day turnaround.
Housing applications are taking around 12 weeks to process. We are working on strategies to bring this timeframe down. We have a new team member processing the more 'straight forward' (i.e. handrails) applications to move these on as soon as possible.
Fax
We are still receiving a lot of equipment requests via fax. We remind you that this is a twilight technology and we cannot guarantee 100% receipt of all applications submitted via fax. Please email your applications to moh.processing@enable.co.nz.
Those of you who email applications through to moh.processing@enable.co.nz will now receive an email confirmation which responds with the subject heading in your original email.
Pressure Care Matresses
The Professional Advisors at Enable New Zealand are working on a project to assist with product selection for pressure care mattresses. We envisage this will be a living resource for Occupational Therapists working in this area to enable them to keep up to date on available product. If any District Health Boards have had similiar projects in the past and would like to share their information with us, please contact sally.wallace@enable.co.nz.
Common List Wheelchair Cushions
All common list wheelchair cushions come with a cover. Extra covers may be ordered through the common list process where this is necessary for regular laundry. Please note that if you need two covers you will need two codes on the common list form - i.e. CU1 (for the cushion AND cover) and CU1C for a spare cover.
Wait List
The Wait list for funding has been released over the past months. To assist with budget management these applications need to be processed and invoiced as soon as possible.
Replacement Equipment
The replacement equipment process is not being correctly followed by some Specialised Assessors. To allow us to process the request as soon as possible, we need the information on the form to be fully completed. Note: non common list items can only be written off by the Technicians in your area. The process can be found in an earlier update.
Address information
When putting the delivery address for the equipment on the equipment forms, please note that items cannot be delivered to PO Boxes. The full address of where you want the equipment to be delivered must be included (i.e. not just the name of the hospital).
Equipment Information
When requesting items of equipment, the Specialised Assessor must put full descriptions of the item/make/model/supplier/sizes on the equipment form. Without this information being present, we will have to seek further information which delays the process. If the item is unusual or customised you may submit a quote with the application, which will assist with ordering the item in a timely manner.
Form Versions
There have been a few form changes over the last year. Please ensure that you phase out all old versions of application forms. The application forms you should be using are as follows: common list dated October 2008 and complex equipment dated November 2008. Older forms will not be processed from 30 April 2009.
The up to date equipment application forms can be found on the Equipment Forms page.
